My First Time in Miyajima

Hiroshima is one of my favorite cities in Japan. The first time I came to Japan, I visited with some friends and fell in love. It’s such a clean, beautiful city with a lot of cool stuff to do. It’s also a great baseball town, which I personally love. Though I’d visited a few times before, I never got a chance to go to Miyajima. It just never fit into my schedule on previous trips to Hiroshima, but it was something I always wanted to check out.
My parents came to Japan for spring break this year, and my mother really wanted to go, so we took a weekend trip to Hiroshima. On Saturday we just hung out in the city, visiting Peace Memorial Park and eating some really good hiroshima-yaki. On Sunday, we took a ferry to Miyajima. It was a beautiful day and there were a lot of cherry blossoms. My son really loved the deer that greeted us just outside the ferry station. We walked around and stopped at various shops. My favorite thing to do whenever I travel to a new place is to eat food. We ate oysters and anago and lots of momiji-manju. It was an awesome time. I wish we could have spent more time in Miyajima, but I was happy that I finally got to go!
