This weekend the weather was really beautiful so it was a good chance to travel around the countryside and get some fresh air. 

On Sunday, I drove to Tarui with friends and we went to the Nangu shrine. The shrine’s paintwork is really vibrant, and I found the fox god shrines very appealing. Close to the shrine — but a bit up in the mountains — there is an impressive three-story pagoda. This area has an amazing view of the valley. Apparently, the pagoda was moved from its original site following a historic battle. It’s interesting to think of moving a pagoda that size; I’m really curious to know the details of how it was done!
