Caneball

Hello everyone!
I’d like to introduce myself to those who do not know me. My name is Mia and I will be teaching Matt’s classes while he is away. I used to be a teacher at Hello!s 4 years ago. It feels great to be back and get to see how much all of my students have grown. Recently, I taught in Thailand at a boarding school in a small village. I greatly enjoyed my time teaching there and learning as well. Once classes were finished for the day, many of my students would play Chinlone, also known as caneball. It’s an amazing sport that uses a small but very hard ball. There is a net similar to a volleyball net and the students can use only their hands or their head to get the ball over the net. In my free time, some of the students tried to teach me. Many of my students played caneball like professionals, but they were still very patient and encouraging when teaching me. I was a terrible caneball player! Before I left Thailand, I bought my very own caneball so I can continue practicing. I made a promise to my students that one day, I will return to play with them. We always reminded each other that no matter how long it takes you to learn something, you just have to keep trying and never give up.
In the meantime, if anyone in Japan would like to practice caneball with me or learn more about my time in Thailand, all you have to do is say hello! I’d be happy to meet you!
