Confused Seasons

One of the effects of climate change is more variable weather. Normally, in winter, you get winter weather, and that’s the end of the story. However, as CO2 levels rise and the climate becomes increasingly unstable, this previously straightforward fact of life becomes less and less certain. Take February 2021 for example.
The month started out as your typical, expected winter month: chilly, limited precipitation, and not much else to talk about. Next thing I know, it’s pouring. Back to normal winter. Then suddenly, it was snowing like crazy. A few days after that, the temperature shot up and flowers started blooming. Only for everything to plummet back down a week later. The month of February has been a real roller coaster.
The following photos of Ogaki’s canals were all taken within days of one another. I do hope the weather can stabilize a bit more for a less bipolar spring.
