６月１８日はおにぎりの日だそうです。

昭和６２年石川県の鹿西町　杉谷チャノバタケ遺跡の竪穴式住居跡

から日本最古のおにぎりの化石が発見されたらしく、それは炭化して

黒い石のように見え、弥生時代中期のものと推測されているそうです。

鹿西町はおにぎりの里として町おこしを行っているとか。

弥生人が食べていたと思うと感慨深いですね。

先月BBQで食べたおにぎりがすごくおいしくて、またいつか買いに行きたいと

思っています。大海老天も博多明太子も高菜も梅じゃこもおいしそう！！

This Sunday is Father’s Day.  Just like on Mother’s Day, it’s nice to have a day where we can focus on our love for our parents (though we should be doing that every day!)  I am very thankful for my father who was always fun and a great influence on me growing up.  He encouraged me to be myself, to be creative, and to be kind to others.  My father shared lots of his interests with me and shaped a lot of who I grew up to be.  It’s hard being so far away from him and the rest of my family, but thankfully we can video chat fairly often.  Here’s one of my favorite pictures of my father from when I was a baby (some time in 1983).  

豚肉団子や炭火焼き豚肉の入ったヌックマムスープにブンをつけて食べるベトナムのハノイ発祥のつけ麺。ブンは、ハノイではフォーより食べられている米粉麺です。食べた感じは春雨の重いやつ。水分がないと引っ付いてなかなか食べられませんでした。オレガノやシソなどの香草類を入れて食べます。写真の草はおそらくパクチーだと思うけど、全部入れて食べました。

外国人観光客の多くが、日本日本に来て自動販売機の多さに驚かれます。

アメリカにも自動販売機はありますが、日本ほど優れていません。お金を入れても商品が出てこなかったこともしばしば。

日本にこれほど自販機が多いのには、日本の治安の良さが関係しています。

アメリカなど海外の大都市では自販機を置いてもお金を盗もうとする人が多かったり、壊されてしまうケースがあるようです。

日本に住んでいてはあまり気がつかない日本の魅力ですね。

Yes! That is English DayS NOT English Day. We’re bring it back to two days this year! After dealing with pandemic for the last three years, we are finally going to bring the festivities back to its original plan. I hope y’all are ready for the water, the campfire and the s’more’s because we’re back baby! Be sure to keep an eye out for all the information within the next two months.
