みなさんこんにちは！すっかり涼しくなってきましたね。少し寒いくらいですね。これから冬が来ると思うとワクワクします。冬が大好きな僕からするとこの気温でもう心が躍り出します。今年の冬は家にこもってこたつでぬくぬくしたいと思います。こたつで昼寝するあのちょっとダメだけど気持ちの良い幸福感がたまりませんね。英語では「guilty pleasure」と言うようです。あなたは冬が好きですか？あなたの冬ならではの楽しみがあれば教えてください！  

One flower I’ve definitely never seen in Seattle is the lycoris. I’d seen them in anime many times before coming to Japan, however, and thought they were some of the most beautiful red flowers in the world. Having been fortunate enough to see many lycoris flowers in person two years in a row, I can safely say that that opinion still holds true.

 

They bloom in October, and I usually see them in clusters near water. Their vivid red coloring stands out against the lush, green foliage they generally tower over. That was one thing that really surprised me the first time I saw these blooms in person: their height. Anime really didn’t offer the perspective necessary to absorb how tall they are. It’s quite striking, especially in the trim outfields by the Ibi River.

 

The only thing the flowers can improve on is the length of time they bloom. I wish I had longer to appreciate them!

 

 

みなさんこんにちは。 先日、保育園の運動会へ行ってきました。 今年は、多くの学校がこの一大イベントを中止したり縮小したりと例年とは違う年ですが、みなさんの学校はどうでしたか? 今回子供の運動会を見に行くのは人生で2度目でしたが、 いつもとても感動させられます。 今回は役員としての参加だったので、 働いた分余計に充実感があったかもしれません。 学生のころは運動会が大好きといった子供ではなかったのですが、子供たちには運動会を大好きでいてほしいと思います。 冬を乗り越えるための体力づくりをするなど一日一日を大事にして、良い2020年だったと思えるようにこの秋を十分に楽しみたいですね！！  

１０月１０日は空を見る日です。

秋の澄んだ空気の中、１０時１０分　空を見上げてみましょう。

昔はこの日が体育の日だったのが分かる気がします。昭和３９年の

東京オリンピック開会式の空が素晴らしく奇麗だったことから

提唱されたとか。

 

普段自然から離れていても、日の出や、日の入りを見ると

なんだか感動しますね。空を丁寧にみていると原点に戻って

毎日生かされていることに気づかされます。

空は、毎日違っています。空というキャンバスに書かれた雲は、

あまりに美しく自然の作る芸術品・・・のようですね。

 

済んだ空気を胸いっぱいに秋を楽しんでください。

The temperature has been up and down in recent weeks, but it’s gradually getting cooler after another hot, humid summer in central Japan.  Fall is my favorite season for a lot of reasons – Halloween, Thanksgiving, the leaves changing colors – but maybe my favorite thing is just how comfortable it is.  In my hometown, summers are very hot and winters are VERY cold.  But cool weather in fall was always perfect. Summer clothes are fun, and I don’t mind wearing winter clothes, but I always have trouble finding a coat that is both comfortable and warm enough.  In fall, though, I get to dig my hoodies out of summer storage.  We often refer to fall weather as “hoodie weather”, because it’s the time of year when going out in a hoodie will keep you warm enough.  Hoodies are comfortable and they look good and hoodie shopping is always fun.  I am glad that hoodie weather is here, and I will enjoy it until winter coat weather comes.
