例年は、新しい外国人講師を発掘に渡米しているのが常でした。ジョンの故郷のミシガン州のホープ大学ではこれまで１０人以上の先生を雇ってきました。近くにはジョンのお母さんやお姉さん、おいやめいなどの親戚が住んでいていつも家族のように接してくれました。ちょっと早めのサンクスギビングに参加したり、もちろんハロウィンも。仕事とは言え、夕方に終わるのでそれ以降のじかんにいろいろな人に会うのが楽しみでした。ジョンの両親はいつもおいしいメキシコ料理店に連れて行ってくれました。カジノを経験したのもミシガン州でした。ホープカレッジの仕事を終えると、車で南に下がりインディアナ州のサウスベンドという町にあるノートルダム大学にも何度も行きました。「ノートルダム」って聞いたことがある人はいるんじゃないですか？そして、その後は、ジョージア校のあるジェファーソンへ。ジョージア大学までは車で３０分くらい。なかなかジョージア大学では採用が難しいのですが、昔ハローズで働いていたカイル・ラビンググッドが今でもそこにいます。娘のコリンちゃんもずいぶん大きくなりました。いつも、顔を合わせて昼食なり、また飲みに行くこともありました。過去形で言うのがちょっと寂しいですが、来年は・・・アメリカで採用をしたいですね。この写真はちょうど一年前に、メキシコ料理の昼食をいっしょに食べたときのものです。

岐南校ではハロウィンの準備が進んでいて、校舎の飾り付けもほとんど終わりました！

ほとんどが手作りの飾りで、岐南校らしさが出ているのではないかと思います。

10月の最後の週には先生はもちろんですが、生徒のみなさんも自由に仮装をして授業に参加してもらいます。

授業に支障が出ない程度で好きな仮装を楽しみましょう！！

Hello everyone! As the weather starts to cool off, some new flowers have started to bloom. I’m surprised to see that spider lilies have popped up. 

When I was younger, I watched a lot of anime, and the spider Lily would be a popular flower. Because of it’s beauty, the spider lily  instantly became one of my favorites. I have always known of the red spider lilies, but seeing white lilies were a real surprise! I had to stop and take a picture because they are so beautiful! I had no idea that there were white spider lilies as well! It’s fun to have a variety of your favorite flower! I can’t choose which color is my favorite though, can you? Let me know!

 Nik and I recently took a trip to Kanazawa! Famous for Kenrokuen, Japan’s most celebrated landscape garden, and Omicho fish market, Kanazawa is a city filled with great food, beautiful sights and friendly people. In part with seeing the garden and the market, we also saw the Kanazawa castle ruins and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art. To top it all off the weather was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! Not too hot, not too cold! 

So If you have some time this fall, I highly recommend y’all head up north to Kanazawa!

Hello everyone! The weather is finally starting to get colder which means it’s time for Fall! I am so excited for my favorite season to really start up! To ring in this cooler time of year, I thought it would be fun to gather some friends have a cool painting evening. 

I don’t paint often, but when I do, I remember why I like it so much. It’s very relaxing, which is perfect for a nice Sunday evening. It’s also really cool to see how creative you can be. I like to just start painting and see what happens. I hope this new season can inspire you to try some new things also! Good luck!
