MERRY CHRISTMAS Y’ALL!!!

  From my family to yours, I hope all of y’all have the most wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. I also hope Santa came and dropped off all the presents you wanted. Please be sure to stay safe and warm this holiday season as well!

Trying something new can be fun and a bit scary, and when it comes to food it can be even more so. I told a friend that I haven’t tried that many Japanese dishes while I’ve been here. I’ve been to Japan a few times now, but there are still a lot of different Japanese dishes and snacks I have yet to try. Over the next few weeks I’ll be making more of an effort to try more Japanese dishes. Recently, I have been trying to make a better effort of eating foods that are out of my comfort zone. As someone who enjoys cooking and culinary arts I feel as though I should broaden my horizon (be willing to eat things I’m not fond of) when it comes to eating. I have been giving a few recommendations of foods that I should try, but I’m sure there are many more that could be added to this list. If you have any suggestions don’t hesitate to let me know!

Last week on my way to Mirai I saw something interesting! It looked like a big guinea pig in the water. At first I thought it was a beaver, but beavers have wide tails that look like waffles (?). This animal had a long, skinny tail like a rat — I know that makes it sound a lot less cute but it was still pretty charming! I had to look it up and it turns out it’s called a nutria. It’s not such a great animal because it can ruin the environment quickly if too many of them live in one place… hopefully there are not a lot of nutrias in Gifu!

Since I have always lived in big cities like Seoul and New York, it’s interesting for me to see animals in town. Even the crows in Ogaki are very shockingly big to me, and they’re everywhere! I have seen weasels, a fox and now this weird little nutria. They’re not such exciting animals but to me it’s a new experience!

Hey yall! Luis here, and today I’m going to talk to y’all about my lifelong dream and that is to travel the whole world and visit every important city. In today’s blog I’ll talk a little about The Big Apple, New York City!

I’ve been going to New York for a couple of years now, although it is a very different city from what I’m accustomed to, it is nice to take in all the lights that aren’t usually accessible! New York is perfect to go for a week, but I don’t think I could ever live there. New York attracts millions of people a year and is the ‘city that never sleeps’, and I like my sleep. Central Park is beautiful, and it’s the perfect mix of city and nature!
