One of the things I miss most about home is something that is dear to my heart. “What is this thing?” you might be wondering, well it’s Barbecue! Barbecuing is a cooking method that involves slow smoking a variety of meats to give them a delicious and Smokey flavor. Barbecuing is usually done outside do to the nature of it cooking method, and in Texas it’s usually done at family gatherings. Almost every state known for barbecue in the United States that is has its own style of barbecuing like dry barbecue or wet barbecue. Wet barbecue is meat that’s cooked in barbecue sauce and this makes the meat very tender. In Texas, however, we make dry barbecue, which is coating the meat in seasons and slow smoking it for long hours. After I graduated from high school I worked at a barbecue food stand for about a year with my best friend. This experience made me appreciate barbecue so much and showed me the hard work it takes to make something so delicious! Barbecue is usually served with certain sides that usually are the same where ever you go. These sides are typically: pinto beans, mac and cheese, potato salad, and slices of bread. This is something I highly recommend trying if you ever visit Texas!
Til next time

I’m not picky about food at all, so it’s easy for me to try new things when I go out with friends or travel. (The only thing I don’t like is coconut!) It’s hard for me to choose a favorite food but since I like spicy dishes and a mix of meat and vegetables, I think my favorite is Korean barbecue.
In Korea, barbecue is cheap but in New York City it’s a luxury! Even though it’s expensive, I still ate it often even in NYC because it is fun to share with friends and to try lots of new side dishes.
I’m excited to try more Japanese food and maybe find a new favorite soon!

This last weekend I went to Tokyo to see some of my friends play a concert in Shibuya! Back home, we have an annual festival called ‘SXSW’ and it is a yearly expo of young artists to play 10+ shows a day in order to get recognized. Well, for me this one band stood out more than others and their name was Turnover. Their music is extremely relaxing with a hint of melancholy vibes. I befriended them and over the years have seen them over 11 times ranging from America to Japan. Seeing them post that they would be touring Japan, I just had to get to Tokyo to see them play live, it’s always a great experience.
